Remove Subtitles from a Downloaded Video

Open the saved video on your device. Its subtitles may be something you can turn off, an extra file in the same folder, or words fixed in the picture. Check which you have before editing.
If subtitles keep returning, try turning them off in the player, then open a copy of the video in an empty folder. A nearby subtitle file may be adding the words again.
Look beside the video file
Check for subtitle files with a matching name, such as SRT or ASS. A player may load them automatically. Temporarily disable that subtitle source to test the video image; keep the files rather than deleting your only copies.
Create a separate inspection folder
Copy the video to an empty folder, leaving the original and any SRT/ASS files untouched.
Open that copy with subtitles disabled
Compare the same moment with the original playback.
Check: If the words disappear only in the empty folder, an external source was likely being loaded.
Decide what to deliver
For a subtitle-free handoff, send the clean video without the separate subtitle file. Removing a file from the delivery package does not erase burned-in words.
Try the subtitle menu
If the words disappear when you turn subtitles off, you can keep watching that way. To share a file without those subtitles, save a new copy with them left out.

Play a moment where the words are easy to see.

Open your player’s subtitle menu and choose Off or Disable. If the words disappear, you can watch without them.

Copy the video to an empty folder and try again with subtitles off. Words that still appear may be part of the picture and need a different removal method.

The words return after restarting the player
Likely cause: Default player settings may enable subtitles again.

What to do: Classify each line at the same timestamp instead of repeating the same removal method on all of them.

Questions and answers
Why do subtitles return when I reopen the file?
Your player may reload an internal track or a nearby subtitle file. Turning off display once is not the same as removing those sources.
Can I paste a video URL instead of choosing a local file?
No. Choose a local MP4, MOV or WebM video. This tool does not fetch videos from pasted links.
