Practical guide

AVI 자막 제거

Based on linked official documentation · Updated · Editorial methodology

AVI files need a format check before browser processing. Keep a copy of the original, inspect the subtitle source and convert only when necessary.

Check an AVI in a player before converting it. If a separate subtitle file is responsible, remove that source from playback or delivery. For burned-in text, prepare a compatible MP4 and verify conversion before image repair.

Check the old file before converting

Play the AVI locally and confirm its full duration and audio synchronization. If the original already has playback problems, converting it may carry those problems into the new file.

Record a baseline before conversion

  • The source duration and aspect ratio.
  • Whether dialogue is synchronized near the start and end.
  • Whether the words disappear when subtitle display is disabled.
  • Which audio track you actually need in the converted copy.

Separate subtitles from visible lettering

Look for a subtitle file beside the video and turn subtitles off in the player. If the words disappear, you may only need to share the video without that extra file. If they remain in the picture, changing the video format will not erase them.

Save an MP4 copy for the browser

Use a video converter or editor that can open your AVI. Keep the original and check the new copy before uploading.

  1. Open the original in a video converter

Keep the original file. Choose MP4 as the format for the new copy.

  2. Use a standard video preset

Choose a preset suitable for everyday playback. If you need to choose a video setting manually, H.264 is a common option. Keep the same picture size and the audio language you need.

  3. Save and check the copy

Play the new MP4 to check its sound, picture and length, then select it in the browser. Simply changing the filename to end in .mp4 will not convert the video.

Inspect conversion and repair separately

First check the converted video for audio drift, missing frames or new compression damage. Only then compare AI repair against that input, so you can tell which stage caused any visible change.

The converted image looks stretched

Likely cause: 변환 또는 디스플레이 설정이 가로 세로 비율을 변경했습니다.

What to do: Compare a circular or familiar object in both files. Restore the source aspect ratio in the converter before repairing text.

Audio drifts toward the end

Likely cause: The source may already have timing issues, or conversion introduced a timing change.

What to do: Compare the same scene in the source and converted copy. Resolve conversion timing before attributing the problem to text removal.

The AVI extension changed but the preview still fails

Likely cause: Changing the filename did not change the video format.

What to do: Open the original in a video converter, save it as MP4, then play the saved copy to check it.

Only have text burned into the picture?

Once you have a supported MP4, MOV or WebM, you can preview it locally and review the cost of automatic repair. A separate subtitle track does not need this step.

Questions and answers

Will renaming AVI to MP4 make it work?

No. Renaming changes only the filename. Open the AVI in a video converter and save a new MP4 copy.

Why does conversion leave the subtitles visible?

Conversion normally retains the visible picture, including burned-in words. Those words need a separate image-repair step.
